If you’ve read the book, can you email me? I want to know how much I’ve just ruined. email@example.com
That’s at least every ten minutes for a month.
Anybody seen this on a tumblr. I swear I’ve seen it somewhere, but I forgot to bookmark. (stupid) You know, like the soup.io interface?
there’s a greasemonkey script called autopagerize.
True, but that’s greasemonkey. I’d swear I’ve seen endless scrolling implemented on the front end somewhere without greasemonkey.
I’m sorry Tumblrs, but I must confess to no longer reading the dashboard. There’s simply too much stuff on there.
This feels a lot like a repeat of when I stopped checking Google Reader. Many eons ago I used to remember a small list of sites in my head. Every day I would type them in and go visit them. Sites like slashdot and userfriendly. Then along came RSS. No longer did I have to visit sites individually, all the articles and blog posts ended up in a single bucket I could parse throught quickly.
As I browsed the web I found more and more interesting sites and added them to my RSS. The number of articles arriving each day slowly increased until it took over 2 hours of reading every day. It was too much for me to handle. I tried unsubscribing, but they were all blogs I found interesting. I tried limiting my reading time and hitting ‘mark all as read’, but I felt I was missing out.
I stopped opening Google Reader. I found I didn’t miss it. I had new sources of info through my link sharing buddies on twitter, tumblr and news.yc. The number of links being shared was small and high quality. So I started following more tumblrs and more twitter users. The number of links steadily climbed.
Which brings me to now. I’m following 290 tumblrs. This is far too much for me to read it all and I feel I’m missing out. I’ve tried to unfollow, but I enjoy the posts of all who I follow.
I’m not sure what the solution is. Perhaps I shall write a script that randomly unfollows half of you. Every time I follow a new person I must unfollow an old one.
I can see this pattern repeating again for twitter soon. Then where will I go?
This sounds like a PSA for pHome.us, so sign up.
