This is a real e-mail sent by the vice president of the company where I work to every  employee.

“A packet of popcorn was dangling from the machine this morning and seems to have fallen.  It looks like someone took the popcorn from the machine and didn’t advance the empty spot where the popcorn once belonged.  If you picked up the popcorn and plan on keeping it, the right thing to do would be to advance the empty slot.  Otherwise, it might appear that you are taking something that costs $.75 without paying for it.
